The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is located in the provincial capital of Canada’s smallest province. Its small size and location in a mixed rural/urban environment contribute to its distinctive character. Although one of Canada’s youngest universities, UPEI builds on the history and architecture of its predecessor institutions.
In a recent publication of the top 50 research universities in Canada, UPEI ranked third among all Canadian undergraduate universities for the third year running and top in the Atlantic region with an increase in sponsored research income of 35.7% over the previous year (Re$earch Infosource 2005).
